Key Properties of Potassium Magnesium Citrate
Potassium Magnesium Citrate Manufacturing process
Potassium Magnesium Citrate is manufactured by the controlled reaction of Citric Acid with suitable potassium and magnesium compounds, followed by concentration, drying and particle-size control.
Citric Acid is first dissolved in purified water under continuous stirring. A calculated quantity of a suitable potassium source and magnesium source is gradually added to the citric acid solution under controlled conditions. The reaction mixture is maintained at the required temperature and pH to achieve complete citrate formation.
After completion of the reaction, the solution is clarified or filtered to remove any insoluble matter. The clear solution is then concentrated under controlled conditions. The resulting Potassium Magnesium Citrate is recovered by a suitable crystallisation or drying process, followed by milling/sieving to obtain the required particle size.
The finished product is tested for parameters such as potassium content, magnesium content, total Potassium Magnesium Citrate content, chloride, sulphate, heavy metals, pH and loss on drying before final packing.
